
Planning to pursue higher education in the United Kingdom? If you’re considering applying under the Student Route (formerly Tier 4), here’s everything you need to know to get started with your application.
Before applying for the study route, the student must;
Obtain a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS):
Secure a CAS from your chosen UK university, which confirms your admission and is a mandatory requirement for the visa application.
Provide proof of financial capacity:
Demonstrate sufficient funds to cover tuition fees for at least one academic year (9 months) and living expenses for the same duration.
Meet the English language requirement:
Take and qualify the Secure English Language Test (SELT) as required by your course and institution.
Pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS):
This allows you access to the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) during your stay.
Student Visa Fees:
A valid travel document such as a passport
Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from a licensed UK university
ATAS certificate (Academic Technology Approval Scheme), if required for your course
Proof of legal guardian and relationship (for students under 18 years of age)
Visa Application Process:
Apply for the UK Student Route visa online through the official UK Government visa website.
Register with UKCAS (UK Visa and Citizenship Application Services) and upload all required documents as per the checklist.
Pay the visa application fee and attend a biometric appointment at the visa application centre, if required.
