This article provides a brief overview of the current admission guidelines for studying in Australia.

1.Explore and choose your preferred course or academic program

  • Visit your nearest SIEC branch or consult with SIEC counsellors for a personalised session to help you choose the right course and university based on your interests, academic background, and financial capacity.

2.Apply through the official online portal of your chosen university or institute, ensuring all required documents are submitted as per course and admission criteria

Meet the minimum English language proficiency requirements (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE).
Provide academic transcripts and certificates confirming your previous qualifications.

3.The student will be issued a conditional offer letter upon successful evaluation of their application by the university.

4.The student must meet all conditions outlined in the offer letter, including paying the enrollment fee, to receive the final (unconditional) offer letter.

5.Receive full offer letter from the university.

6.Accept the offer either through the university’s online system or by signing and submitting it, then proceed with the following steps:

Provide proof of sufficient financial support to cover tuition balance, living costs, travel, and daily expenses for the entire study period
Arrange suitable accommodation in New Zealand
Make sure your passport is valid for the full duration of your course
Complete the required medical examination as per student visa regulations
Apply for and obtain a valid New Zealand study visa (permit)
10.Once the Approval in Principle (AIP) is granted, the student must pay one year’s tuition fee to the university or institute, and transfer living expenses to an ANZ bank account opened in their name.

7.Complete the GTE (Genuine Temporary Entrant) Assessment
The GTE process includes:

  • A Statement of Purpose (SOP)
  • Evidence of financial capacity

8.Receive Confirmation of Enrollment (eCoE)

After accepting the offer and paying the tuition fees, the university will issue an Electronic Confirmation of Enrollment (eCoE) via email. It contains details such as course start date, duration, and total fees.

9.Apply for the Student Visa

Begin your visa application process using the eCoE and other mandatory documents, which include:

  • Electronic Confirmation of Enrollment (eCoE)
  • Proof of funds for tuition, living expenses, and travel
  • Health and character certification
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
  • Proof of English language proficiency

10.Purchase Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)

OSHC is mandatory for obtaining an Australian student visa. It must cover the student and any accompanying family members for the entire duration of the visa.
